Happy Honor Day
Some woke up today and said, “I can’t do Thanksgiving this year” and God understands.
We all grieve,
and that grief deserves to be honored.
Every tear, every ache, every silent moment of missing someone
is evidence that love lived here.
We all feel,
and honoring one another’s feelings is a sacred act.
Compassion is not weakness;
it is the bridge that holds us together.
We all breathe,
and every breath is another day to honor the simple gift of being alive.
Even in hardship, even in uncertainty,
life itself is a miracle worth acknowledging.
We all fall short,
and there is honor in learning the lesson,
in rising again,
in being shaped, stretched, and strengthened by the journey.
And above all, we honor God,
for His grace,
for His covering,
for His mercy that meets us even when we don’t deserve it.
Because within this Honor is true thanksgiving
not the settlers’ myth,
not capitalism’s feast,
not a day that ignores the poor, the displaced, or the grieving,
but a thanksgiving rooted in truth,
in remembrance,
in healing,
in community,
in God.
A thanksgiving that honors the living,
the lost,
the ancestors,
and the God who carried us.
This is Honor Day.
A day of truth.
A day of community.
A day of healing.
A day of remembering what really matters.
Happy Honor Day.
