Now Unto Him

There are moments when time feels thin, when one year exhales and another quietly steps forward. That was the spirit in the room at Jonahville AME Zion Church as we stood on the final evening of 2025.

No rush.

Just presence.

What a way to step into a new year at The Ville.

The sanctuary carried the weight of everything we had walked through and everything we were finally ready to lay down. You could feel it, people coming in not to perform, not to impress, but to be honest before God.

2025 put deep roots in us.

Not surface roots.

Not quick fixes.

Prayer roots that were formed in late nights and quiet mornings.

Faith roots that held even when answers didn’t come right away.

Growth roots that stretched us, corrected us, and matured us.

Roots that didn’t ask permission to grow.

And as we crossed into 2026, something shifted. There was a collective understanding in the room:

We are not carrying into this new year what God already told us to release.

This is not a year of holding on out of fear.

This is a year of surrender with trust.

So we did what believers do when they know where their help comes from:

We prayed.

We left it at the altar.

We prayed for somebody else, truly prayed, for their healing, their calling, their spiritual growth.

That night, gratitude rose before requests.

We thanked God for two new souls who chose to join the church, not just signing up, but stepping into community, accountability, and faith.

We thanked God for healing and restoration in one of our young members. Not theory. Not hope. Healing. God did that!

The altar was full, not because it was required, but because it was needed.

People knelt. People stood. People wept quietly. Others lifted hands without words.

The prayers weren’t polished.

They were real.

And the Spirit was moving, not in chaos, but in confirmation.

Under the leadership of Pastor Mark A. Evans, Jonahville continues to be a place where faith is not rushed, where growth is cultivated, and where God’s presence is honored. A place where people are allowed to be rooted, healed, and transformed, one prayer at a time.

As we step into 2026, we do so anchored, not anxious.

Grounded, not grasping.

Expectant, not afraid.

Because we know the truth we stand on:

Now unto Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…

We trust God with what’s ahead.

We release what’s behind.

And we move forward, together.

Now Unto Him.
