Service Reflection
The Spirit of the Lord moved mightily at Sills Creek A.M.E. Zion Church as Pastor Mark A. Evans delivered a soul-stirring message under the theme, “Press Your Way, Get Caught Up in God.”
Hosted by Rev. Merriweather, the sanctuary was filled with praise, prayer, and power as Pastor Evans reminded the people that sometimes you have to press through pain, pressure, and persecution just to reach the promise.
Message Highlights
🕊️“When Was the Last Time You Got Caught Up in God?”
Pastor Evans challenged the congregation to remember what it means to truly be caught up in the Spirit, to worship beyond the noise, the schedule, and the storm.
“Some of us have gotten caught up in people, in problems, and in pride,” he declared, “but when was the last time you got caught up in God?”
He drew from 2 Corinthians 12:2, where Paul speaks of being caught up to the third heaven, not for show, but for surrender.
🛐“Peter Removed Us from the Promise”
Using Matthew 14:29–31, Pastor Evans compared Peter’s moment on the water to our own faith journeys.
“Peter walked on the Word, but when he looked at the wind, he lost his way.”
He reminded the church that many of us, like Peter, have taken our eyes off Jesus, but God’s hand is still reaching.
Even when we remove ourselves from the promise, grace restores our footing.
🔥“Your Situation Is Not Too Hard for God”
Preaching from Jeremiah 32:27, Pastor Evans thundered:
“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh — is there anything too hard for Me?”
He reminded the congregation that what feels impossible is only an invitation for God’s intervention.
“The Lord is good, even in your worst ways,” he said, “because His goodness isn’t based on your behavior, it’s based on His nature.”
The church responded with shouts of “Yes, Lord!” as worship swelled and hearts were lifted.
A Prophetic Moment
Drawing from the example of Prophet Elijah (1 Kings 19:7–8), Pastor Evans encouraged those who feel weary to “arise and eat.”
“Even prophets get tired, but God will send an angel with strength for the journey.”
He spoke of how revival begins not with noise, but with nourishment — not with crowds, but with courage.
Final Charge: Press Through
As the Spirit filled the room, Pastor Evans closed with the reminder:
“Your blessing is on the other side of your press.
Keep pushing when you feel overlooked.
Keep believing when you can’t see the way.
Keep pressing when life pushes back — because the promise still stands.”
