When You Refuse To Drown

“By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household.” — Hebrews 11:7

There comes a time in ministry when you feel like Noah. You hear God clearly. You see what others cannot see. You obey with trembling hands and a faithful heart. Yet those around you doubt, laugh, or ignore the call. Noah’s assignment was not glamorous, it was backbreaking work that demanded consistency, communication, and collaboration. These are the 3 C’s of ministry, but let’s be real, sometimes all three can feel like a crushing weight.

Consistency: The Weariness of Building

Day after day, Noah hammered wood into place. Every strike was an act of faith. Every cut, every nail, every detail was preparation for a storm the world had never seen. Ministry is the same, showing up again and again when the pews are empty, when prayers seem unanswered, when volunteers are few. Consistency is wearying, but it is also the rhythm of righteousness. “Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not” (Galatians 6:9).

Communication: When Voices Fall Silent

Noah spoke what God told him. He warned of the flood, but people closed their ears. Ministry requires communication too, vision must be shared, truth must be spoken. But what happens when nobody listens? When your calls go unanswered, your texts ignored, your meetings empty? Like Noah, we must still speak. Because the message isn’t ours, it’s God’s. “Whether they hear or refuse to hear, for they are a rebellious house, they will know that a prophet has been among them” (Ezekiel 2:5).

Collaboration: When Help Feels Scarce

Even with family beside him, Noah carried a lonely weight. Collaboration in ministry is beautiful, but it can also fall short. Sometimes the help doesn’t match the harvest. Sometimes collaboration doesn’t equal conviction. Yet Noah pressed on. He did not stop because the crowd was small. He pressed on because the command was great.

Noah’s Heart-Wrenching Faith

Imagine the heartbreak, building in silence while mocked, laboring without applause, giving warnings no one heeded. Yet Noah’s obedience saved his family and preserved creation. His faith carried the weight of humanity’s future.

So when you feel like Noah, weary from consistency, bruised by ignored communication, and stretched by thin collaboration, remember: storms are real, but so is salvation. The ark you are building, whether it’s a church, a ministry, or a calling, will carry lives into safety.

A Word for Jonahville

We, too, are builders. Builders of hope. Builders of faith. Builders of a refuge in the middle of a storm-swept world. We cannot faint. We cannot fold. We cannot fear. Like Noah, we must be bold and unshakable.

For the storm is coming, but so is the rainbow. 🌈

“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise… but patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” — 2 Peter 3:9

🔥 Bold. Compassionate. Passionate. Unapologetic. Ministry takes the 3 C’s ( Communication, Collaboration and Consistency), but it also takes faith that refuses to drown.
